Ascent Through the Afro-Montane Forest

To start your 4-Days Rwenzori Trekking Expedition, our team gathers at the Trekkers base camp at 1,450 meters. We begin our steady upward trek by walking through the beautiful, towering trees of the Afro-Montane Forest Zone. This initial mountain walk treats hikers to a height gain of 1,146 meters along pristine river valleys.

Primate and Wildlife Encounters

Next, keep your eyes on the forest canopy to spot playful blue monkeys and troupes of black and white colobus monkeys swinging through the treetops. The lush forest environment is heavily adorned with mosses, fungi, and lichen-covered vines. Arrive at the comfortable Sine Hut by late afternoon to enjoy a hot dinner and a relaxing overnight stay.

Trekking Through the Bamboo Zones

Following a hearty mountain breakfast, we begin trekking at 8:30 AM into the beautiful Bamboo-Mimulopsis Zone. We navigate several switchbacks designed to make the steep altitude gain of 551 meters easier for hikers. Soon, we reach Kalalama Camp at 3,147 meters inside the Heather-Rapanea Zone for a warm cup of tea.

Enter the Giant Heather Valley

Additionally, our trail twists along a tumbling mountain stream tucked beneath massive Giant Heather trees. The entire valley is shrouded in mist, with old man's beard lichen hanging dramatically from the branches. We arrive at the spectacularly positioned Mutinda Camp late in the afternoon for our overnight rest.

Summiting the Panoramic Mutinda Lookout

Today marks the peak highlight of your 4-Days Rwenzori Trekking Expedition. We embark on a morning scramble up moss-covered rocks to reach the summit of Mutinda Lookout at 3,975 meters. Stand on the summit to enjoy amazing views stretching across the Rwenzori peaks down to Kasese town and Lake George.

Traversing Hunwick's Pass

Subsequently, we descend across boardwalks and bogs to navigate the dramatic Hunwick's Pass. The trail leads directly between the towering Twin Peaks, where eagles and hawks nest on high cliff faces. We complete the day's journey by walking down into the deep, scenic valley of Kiharo Camp for dinner.

The Waterfall Circuit Descent

On our final day, we follow a path turning right along a fast-flowing mountain river. Look closely into the small forest clearings to spot elusive red duikers feeding in the undergrowth. The trail drops steadily through switchbacks, revealing several hidden river waterfalls.

Bridal Falls to Base Return

Furthermore, we explore the spectacular Plozza Falls and the cascading Bridal Falls, where the water flows like a veil. Hikers can take a refreshing swim in the clear mountain pools to celebrate their completion of the trek. We arrive back at Kilembe by late afternoon, where our transport vehicle smoothly transfers you back to Entebbe or your hotel.
