Moorland Ascent

Today, the trail ascends steeply out of the rainforest and into the moorland zone. Specifically, you will cross a rocky ridge before walking directly onto the stunning Shira Plateau. Consequently, you will enjoy clear, panoramic views of Kibo Peak from your tents.

Acclimatization Strategy

First, you ascend to the towering Lava Tower for critical high-altitude acclimatization. Afterward, you will descend into the beautiful Barranco Valley to rest. Conquering the Wall

Midnight Summit Push

Final Descent
